Location
Todmorden is a historic and creative market town in the Upper Calder Valley, West Yorkshire. Situated near the Lancashire border, the town emblem is half red half white rose, and is known for its dramatic Pennine scenery, 19th century industrial architecture, and an award-winning market.
Todmorden is also famous for its pioneering Incredible Edible community gardening movement, Victorian Town Hall, strong industrial heritage (textiles), vibrant arts/music scene, unique independent shops, and a history of unusual events like UFO sightings, making it a quirky, resilient market town known for community spirit and outdoor activities. It also has the highest beach in England at Gaddings Dam. The imposing Stoodley Pike monument is Grade II listed and dominates the skyline above Todmorden, sitting atop Stoodley Pike, a 400m hill.
It is well connected by train to Manchester, Leeds and Burnley, making it an accessible, popular commuter town.
